I’m sure you have received a Spam phone call before. They have become a problem for many iPhone users in the United States who sometimes get a few of them a day. Apple has come up with a great feature in iOS 13 called Silence Unknown Callers. This feature will silence incoming phone calls from numbers that are not in your contacts list and send them straight to voicemail without the phone ringing. The person being blocked still hears the phone ringing before the voicemail picks up, so they won’t know that Silence Unknown Callers is enabled and will still be able to leave you a voice mail if they choose to do so.

For a call to come through with Silence Unknown Callers turned on, the number needs to in your Contacts list.

To turn on the Silence Unknown Callers feature in iOS 13, open the Settings app, select Phone section, scroll to “Call Silencing and Blocked Contacts” and toggling the Silence Unknown Callers option to the on position.

This feature will be available with the release of iOS 13 this fall. Thanks for reading the MacEdge Blog.
